CUNY Open Source Initiative - FOSS and Python
Presentation given at the City University of New York (CUNY) on October 3, 2003
Professor Ted Brown, the Director of the CUNY Institute of Software Design and Development and a fellow board member at NYSIA, invited me to give a presentation in front of the CUNY Computer Science Discipline Council. Dr. Brown is working on getting an intiative around FOSS off the ground at the University. He hopes to get more CUNY computer science students involved in various FOSS projects.
The presentation covered three main points:
- What is FOSS?
- Why is it important to get University students involved in FOSS projects?
- Why Python is a good focus for such an initiative?
For those of you who attended and anyone else interested, you can see the slides from the presentation here.
