IBM Presentation on GNU/Linux Desktop
IBM's Sam Docknevich, Linux and Grid Services Executive for IBM Global Services, presentation at the Desktop Linux Conference in Boston. It discusses IBM's push into the Linux desktop market, an initiative from inside "Big Blue.
There has been quite a bit of talk lately about GNU/Linux and the desktop. Since it is mostly talk, I haven't mentioned it here. But when IBM talks, its worth listening. So here is a presentation recently given by a top IBM executive. It's worth a look. On the above site, there are also some links to other articles about the conference, what iBM and others said. Also a promise for more presentations to be posted.
As someone who has been using GNU/Linux desktop for many years, I can say that it is more than ready for mainstream corporate usage. This push by IBM should have enormous impact, just as IBM pushing GNU/Linux in the server world did.
